    Hello DeWayne,

In searching the web for flyable and unique planes to simulate for a airplane project I have to help my niece out in her 5th grade class.  I was wanting to use your plane for this project.  Looks like it would also be a great glider without the motor. Any suggestions?  I see you mentioned using .."paper coated with acrylic plastics".  Is this a type of spray paint?

    Thank you,

    Darren

I will try to contact you by e mail: DeWayne

Mars and Earth are 170 million miles apart on landing day,Radio signals received at 4:53:44 p.m. Pacific Time (7:53:44 p.m. Eastern Time) confirmed the Phoenix Mars Lander had survived its difficult final descent and touchdown 15 minutes earlier. The signals took that long to travel from Mars to Earth at the speed of light.Scientists do not expect to find water in its liquid form at the Phoenix landing site because it's too frigid. Dewayne Evans (2002FLYER club President said he built a model of this aircraft that flew July 1903 ...several months before the Wright brothers and it..the model... flew very well..the Richard Pearse of New Zealand aircraft... was in some ways superior to the Wrights first flyer..It was a monoplane.. with a two cylinder engine..configured like modern aircraft engines ....the airframe had controls .... a three axis control system...tricycle landing gear with wheels ..less drag and weight than the much larger Wright 1903 flyer ..The wrights had to use a catapult to launch their plane when they returned to Ohio.. to cope with the higher density altitude...Pearse would use a road in front of a school for take off .. when his farm field was wet and had a crowd of witnesses ....

I have nominated Richard Pearse as an honerary member of the 2002flyerclub for his achievements in controlled flight which could have predated our own ..Wright Brothers .Looking to get some NICE antique "full-size" and scale RC flying model aircraft shots with my K100D at some of the area events in New England starting this summer and autumn...some of my "on-the-ground" work of RC Scale model aircraft, using a small Olympus C-770 point & shoot 4 MP digital camera I've also got, can be seen at - Dawn Patrol Scale Fly-In '06/Chauncey s D VII-Port Nose , - Dawn Patrol Scale Fly-In '06/Don Button s Scout D-1 and at - Dawn Patrol Scale Fly-In '06/Don Button s Scout D-2.

Today I had the distinct pleasure of watching several talented R/C pilots fly some amazing aircraft at the Jordan River Modelport.I’ve never seen such a scale model fighter plane in both looks and behavior. Rodger pulled a cobra at one point, and (until the very end), I would have sworn it was the real thing. From a distance, it’s hard to tell if this is a model or not:(Dave Smiths Blog)

The great 2007 Toledo Ohio RC show was held at the downtown Toledo Sea Gate Center on April 13,14, and15 Report from the Presidents attendance at the show:

I did get to the Toledo RC  show sat 14 April. The only thing I saw that caught my interest was a new 2.4 ghz control system that keeps the signal going to the plane by finding clear waves . .another item, a small helicopter that you can fly from your coffee table sold well for 30. usd .. but it is also being sold at Walmart for a little less.....it only has limited control .....yaw axis only and throttle for altitude ... It can be made to go forward by putting a small weight in the nose to move the c.g. center of gravity forward..therefore vectoring the thrust slightly for a slow forward flight.. by changing the heading it is possible  to land and takeoff from small flat areas.. our readers will  like this micro helicopter.

The 2002flyerclub web site is looking good..you can now get on site by typing 2002flyerclub and hitting enter and we are the first an only site shown...keep up the good work...

Just received news that the FAA has issued a change to the Federal Aviation Regulations (14 CFR part 91) concerning Unmanned Aerial
Vehicles, including those for sport or hobby (R/C). The document includes the verbiage from AC 91-57 (with the recommended 400' AGL
ceiling for RC) but I doubt it would be policed/enforced it ("encourages good judgment on the part of the operators").

The 2002flyerclub was founded over 10 years ago to promote and celebrate controlled flight.
The name is a trademark of DeWayne Evans the founder and president , and honors the 100 year aniversary of the 1902 glider flight of the wright brothers that first flew controlling pitch roll and yaw and made modern flight possible.

DeWayne is an all weather multi engine jet Airline Transport Captain and Flight Instructor. and has flown as pilot in command of hundreds of aircraft. He has over 30,000 take offs and landings.and has flown over 5 continents.  He has owned transport catagory jets as well as light aircraft. His life long hobby is designing original aircraft, rcmodel aircraft ,and promoting aviation. His demonstrations of micro sized electric aircraft like the 2002flyer , a biplane that resembles the wright flyer has inspired many to join the micro electric rc aircraft  movement in recent years.

One DeWayne Evans full sized aircraft design has a data link computer controlled flight management system and  is a candidate for a flying car like all weather aircraft that will replace the family car in the future.  It has a low aspect ratio wing for low drag at high air speeds ,compatability with ground traffic and low wing loading for slow short take off and landings.
A new air traffic system concept by DeWayne Evans will allow designated landing areas next to existing roads and will allow blending with existing ground traffic that connect to the taxi segment for door to door personal transportation.

WEST GREENWICH --Providence,RI,USA  On weekends, weather permitting, the skies over a 33-acre field in the state's Big River Management Area are swarming with aircraft whose pilots have their feet on the ground.

For about 30 years, Beattie Field -- featuring a closely-mown "X" representing cross-runways -- has been the home base for the Rhode Island Aeromodelers Association.

The group, founded seven decades ago, has about 80 members ranging in age from 8 to 80 and claims to be the largest of the state's five model-plane flying clubs. And on the weekends, many of the members are at the field off Division Road, putting their radio-controlled airplanes and helicopters through their paces.

Some of the model aircraft are meticulously constructed from scratch, others are assembled from kits that can cost as much as $400.

THE UNIVERSE'S INTELLIGENT DESIGN via EVOLUTION©  is an interesting on line eBOOK that is changing daily as the author writes it is... One of the scientific and theological controversies that puzzle the Earth's people most, is the design and unlikely origin of the Universe. The controversy:  1. The Universe was created out of nothing through the Big Bang.  2. By a Creator God (Id).  3. It (the Universe) has eternally existed.  4. Does the Universe have and atmosphere (Ether).  A Scientific Roadmap not Theology. The author invites comments.

RC AIRPLANE HOBBY IS CHEAPER THAN GOLF (MORE. . .)   That’s why Roth urges beginners to consider buying a used plane, which only costs about half as much as a new model. For those do-it-yourselfers, there are always RC airplane kits. Or a person can do what Claywell does and just build a plane from scratch. He made it sound easy when he said, “Just buy a bundle of balsa wood and draw up the plans.” Building from scratch is the least expensive option of all – Claywell said it costs approximately two-thirds less than a kit.“People complain about the cost of RC,” Roth said. “In reality, it’s a lot cheaper than golf.

GALESBURG TENN. USA - Sixty-nine-year-old Clarence Thurman has a dangerous hobby. "Fourteen stitches," he says, holding up a bandaged finger. The group, together with a local club, The Galesburg RC Fliers, gets together to fly on the weekends, west of Galesburg past the airport. They also take off from a location in Maquon. The planes hang from every corner of the shop, but these are mostly smaller "war birds" - RC models that resemble full-sized military aircraft. They vary in scale from the 1/18 size models on display to planes like Edwards' behemoth. It has a 110-inch wing span that is nearly half the size of a full-sized airplane."They get pretty elaborate," said Davis. "People find ways to launch paratroopers and drop bombs out of their planes." This is all, of course, radio-controlled by a remote on the ground. "We're just a bunch of kids who like to fly," said Sid Davis, owner of the shop Galesburg RC Corner and president of the Spoon River Fliers, a Maquon-based RC modeler's club. MORE

SAN BERNARDINO CALIF USA FLYING CLUB FLYING SESSIONS The colorful model planes can be simple and modest with a 3- or 4-foot wingspan, or elaborate labors-of-love with wingspans in excess of 6 feet. The club has up to 400 members who also fly at Prado Park between Chino and Corona. Tuesdays and Thursdays at San Bernardino tend to be the gray-haired crowd, where flying is a good excuse to hang out with buddies. Felix Gallegos, 82, of San Bernardino, has been a regular at the flying sessions since the park opened in 1995. But his love affair with model planes predates World War II.

DETAILS University of Missouri-Rolla ROLLA AREA The Xtreme Aircraft RC Club meets at 7 p.m. at the Rolla Area Chamber of Commerce Visitor’s Center on the second Thursday of the month. Those interested in getting involved with the group, or wanting to help with the fun fly in May, are invited to attend or contact Frost at 573-465-0201. THEY FLY REAL MODEL JETS. Frost flies radio control (RC) model turbine jets, which are scale models of full sized turbine jets used by commercial airlines and the military. From the engine to the tiny pilot in the cockpit, these models look and are powered just like real airplanes.

GUYMON OL.USA. The Guymon Flying Tigers, local radio control (RC) airplane club, held a "Fun Fly" Saturday, May 28. Aside from great entertainment for spectators, and fun for the pilots, the event was held to raise money for Clayton Keenon. Keenon has leukemia, and the medication and treatments are very expensive. The club raised $583 towards assisting in these expenses. The participants take what they do very seriously. It is much more than a hobby, more of a life style, as prices for these model aircraft range from $400 to $4,000. Their planes come in all sizes -some are preassembled; some hand made by the pilots. The Guymon Flying Tigers RC Club meets the first Thursday every month at 7:30 p.m. weather permitting, they meet at their field, north of Guymon, on Hurliman Road, during the winter or in bad weather they meet at the Guymon Municipal Airport.

NEW RC AIRPLANE CLUB FORMED: More RC Delta wing flyers

GMAC is the first radio control airplane club in a high school in the United States. This is their second year as a club and our first year with a website. We hope to do more this year than last. There are less people in the club this year but more have planes and more members are serious about flying and getting airplanes. We flew in the Powder Puff game between the Glencoe seniors and juniors, as the halftime show. Our halftime show wasn't a good preview of the club member's ability to fly. The electric planes are not as good as gas, especially in wind, cold temperatures, and rain. If there was little to no wind and there was no rain, it would have been a much better show.                                      http://www.geocities.com/gmac97133/

What do I need to get into the air?

All of our starter kits contain everything in this list except extra parts and tools.  Or, if you already have a transmitter, try a hobbyist kit.  If you have a transmitter and lithium-charger, try a pro kit.

1. Air frame This can range anywhere from laser-cut Lil’ Skeeter kits, free flight kits or plans, to toy planes for conversion purchased at the toy store.
2. Receiver Our RFFS-100 works with all batteries, transmitters, airframes, motors and servos we sell.
3. Servos Micro or mini-micro servos which each consist of one coil, two magnets and hinge material.
4. Motor and Prop For most applications of the RFFS-100 the KP00 motor and U80 prop are a good choice.
5. Batteries Nickel-cadmium batteries are cheap, and most experienced flyers have a charger, but Li-Poly batteries are lighter, longer-lasting and more powerful; they do, however, require a lithium charger.
6. Charger Make sure you have the correct charger for your power source.
7. Transmitter For the RFFS-100 you will need at least a 3 channel transmitter
8. Parts and Tools You may also want parts and tools to work with and enhance your airplane.
(Quarters not included)

After building a strong reputation for quality model aircraft. His planes were very popular among modelers, especially competitive aerobatic RC pilots
While Latta has purchased small ads in a couple of popular modeling magazines, many of his sales come over the Internet, via his Web site, http://bridiairplanes.com.

He has shipped kits all over the United States, and as far as Australia, although size restrictions make shipping larger model kits overseas more difficult.

Latta is known as one of the most highly-skilled radio-controlled -- RC -- aircraft craftsmen in the area, and he turns out hand-crafted kits that, in the right hands, can be turned into woodwork creations to rival the finest cabinets.

These model aircraft's are amazing electric slow flyers. They will take off outside or indoors, in a very small runway

(10 feet ) at 5 miles per hour, fly between the trees and circle about. Climb and descend where ever the pilot wants

it to. Then can be brought in for a landing at the pilot's feet where they took off from. This is out doors on a calm day.

It can fly just as well indoors. One can fly it over 500 feet high, and at 500 feet down range, depending on eyesight

The plane will require a standard MG-1 motor, 7" prop, micro radio, 2 micro servos, micro motor control, and 6,

350 m.a. nicads. The propeller is driven by the electric motor. Cruise power (at five miles per hour, 50% power

And interesting commercial RC helicopter availability can be viewed at http://www.minihelicopter.net  I have not flown or purchased any of the RC helicopters but do find them interesting. The Mini RC Helicopter until recently were expensive to buy and hard to get hold of. Nowadays however, with the advancement of radio control technology and the drop in prices of radio control helicopter models and components, mini rc helicopters are very affordable and are becoming more and more suited to the novice model helicopter pilot. Indeed, within the last few months mini rc helicopters like the Megatech Remote Control Helicopter and the Trend Times rc mini helicopter have brought model helicopter flying to thousands of people!

The following eMAIL was received today:

Tom

This is good news.
I  am  thinking about what would be the best choice for him for indoor flight since the two foot model of the microjet

is more difficult to fly indoors than the larger version because it has a higher wing loading than the larger versions.

Also I have some pictures of the twin micojet that  I am planning to get to you to post on the website, It has been flying

now for two years  it uses two gws 50 micro fanjets and  also  flys  fast and slow, It looks like a minature gulfstream jet .

There is a new lithium battery called  ALB (advanced lithium battery )  it is only one mm thick and has the same

capacity as the 3mm thick   lithium battery.   If  this  alb is used then  the two foot microjet could be flown very slowly

indoors and can also carry a video camera for outdoor flying .

This camera is being used by the draganfly. a vertical takeoff aircraft .

best regards
DeWayne
